Beautiful Antique Art Deco Swiss Niello 800 Silver Full Hunter Pocket Watch. This stunning pocket watch was hand made in Switzerland around the 1920s and features a beautiful Niello Silver case with silver dial, small second at the 6 position, Arabic numerals, and sleek black hands. Niello is a black mixture, usually of sulphur, copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched silver. It is added as a powder or paste, then fired until it melts or at least softens, and flows or is pushed into the engraved lines in the metal. It hardens and blackens when cool, and the niello on the flat surface is polished off to show the filled lines in black, contrasting with the polished silver around it. The piece is in good antique condition, winds up and works nicely. Some wear to the Niello. This beautiful piece measures 2 in diameter (case only) and weighs. Hallmarked and numbered inside the outer and inner case lid which are both silver. A very beautiful Art Deco timepiece!
