Antique 19th Century Art Nouveau European Silver, 14K Gold & Niello Sword Brooch. This fantastic brooch was hand crafted in Central Europe around the end of the 19th Century during the Art Nouveau period and features a 800 silver oriental sword / dagger shape with 14K gold overlay and intricate Niello designs. The handle has the shape of a lion’s head. Niello is a black mixture, usually of sulphur, copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched silver. It is added as a powder or paste, then fired until it melts or at least softens, and flows or is pushed into the engraved lines in the metal. It hardens and blackens when cool, and the Niello on the flat surface is polished off to show the filled lines in black, contrasting with the polished silver around it. STUNNING ANTIQUE 800 SILVER FESTOON SWAG NECKLACE AND BRACELET SET. Very Fine 800 Silver Antique Swag Festoon Necklace Bracelet Set. It features smooth wheatchain swags that drapes from either sides of the pendant necklace. They are gathered by ornate tabs from which hangs dangling onyx beads and curled wires. The center of the pendant is set with a smooth glossy black onyx cabochon amidst handwrought twisted silver wires. The bracelet has equal details with smooth braided wheat links, ornate tabs, onyx stones and beads. Combined weight 59.5 grams. Necklace has a wearable length of 17 inches and finishes with a french hook clasp. Pendant measures 1 3/4 inch long × 3/4 inch wide. Russian Imperial 875 silver niello large serving spoon Circa 1900, decorated with front view of Saint Basil’s Cathedral upon Vasil’evskyi spusk at the beginning of Red Square in Moscow, Russia. The border decorated with etched Slavic scroll-work tapestry niello design with zig-zag running border. Overall very good condition, no damage nor repair, minor scratches due to age & rare use. Very minor pin-pointed spots to cup’s interior, monogrammed. Length under 7 1/2 in. Cup’s Diameter under 2 1/2 in. Total Silver Weight 75 grams.
This is a Russian silver niello belt box/palaska/matchbox. Raised filigree top, fold out closure, niello decorated sides and etched illegible cyrillic writing on the back. Is approximately 2-3/4″ x 1-15/16″. It is in good antique condition.
