A beautiful Middle Eastern Sterling Silver niello compact. This antique is a unique, rare find with intricate “niello” designs of a sail boat traveling along the sea heading home and a tall niello palm tree. The compact is signed in Arabic that translates to “Diwan” or “Diran” depending on the dialect. The compact is Turkish and is from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The picture shown “nielloed” on the front is a man riding a camel with another camel in tow and a palm tree. The Sterling Silver Filigree is quite intricate.
