This 1920s art deco, sterling silver, dance compact is just beautiful. The compact has a chased flower basket on the front side crowned with swags of garlands, and there is a border of chased leaves as a decorative border on the outer front edge. The basket, garlands and leaves are chased onto a black niello ground. The rich and thick sterling tassel is secured to the bottom of the compact with a niello-patterned, cone shaped cap. The sterling silver chain is in place and is original to the piece. The back of the compact shows three stylized initials all intertwined. I think they read: “BJR”. The compact is a solid, heavy weight for it’s size. This compact is double sided for rouge and powder. There is a clean mirror within each lid on each side.
