Up for sale a Victorian Sterling silver with gilding Niello pocket watch chain in mint condition. Very rare niello with gilt. The T bar and its link are hallmarked “925” for silver, the dog clasp is hallmarked “sterling” and the ring is also hallmarked “925”, so I believe they were fitted at a later date. I guess it was made in France. Wonderful workmanship-on a thick chain in wonderful condition. See dimensions and the condition from the photos, they are an integral part of the description. It is in mint condition with normal signs of use for its age. Niello-this is the art of ornamenting metal surfaces that is thought to have originated with the Egyptians and spread throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. Very rare niello with gilt. I guess it was made in England. Extremely rare and beautiful fob, without any engravings. L” for maker, “anchor” for Birmingham, “lion passant” for sterling silver and “l for 1910. Wonderful workmanship in wonderful condition.
