Description: Thank you for considering this small Russian 875 silver footed cup. This wonderful vintage piece features etched and niello foliate design on a gilded background. The inside is also gilded and wonderfully shiny. It is marked with 875 as well as Russian Cyrillic makers marks. A great addition to any collection. Beautiful Vintage Soviet Russian 875 Silver Niello Design Vodka Cup. A beautiful piece featuring masterfully chased floral ornaments and Niello decor. Niello is a black mixture, usually of sulphur, copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched silver. It is added as a powder or paste, then fired until it melts or at least softens, and flows or is pushed into the engraved lines in the metal. It hardens and blackens when cool, and the Niello on the flat surface is polished off to show the filled lines in black, contrasting with the polished silver around it. 2 1/4″ tall x 1 3/8″ in diameter at the top and weighs approx.
