Antique Russian 875 Silver & Niello Beaker Moscow Circa 1842. Of round form, Antique Circa 1842 Russian 875 silver & niello drinking beaker, decorated with hunting scene preparation & heavy niello plaque depicting a castle along hill side landscape. Fine quality hand chasing to each figure, a horse, hunting dogs & forest landscape. Each plaque surrounded by chased scroll-work foliage & floral design. Hand chased ground with chased applied border rim. Overall very good condition, minor dent to the bottom, minor dent marks underneath castle plaque, scratch marks. No visible dents to designs, scratch marks to plai design areas. Marked: 84, Moscow, Assay A. 1842, maker’s mark illegible. Height 3 2/3 in. Diameter 3 1/4 in. Total Silver Weight 167 grams.

Fresh looking, soft wear is noticeable only on close inspection. Silver setting has a bright patina with minor surface wear, no dents. Glass locket panel has fresh sheen with no chips or surface wear. Bale is secure and original. Niello is dense and bright without thinning or chipping.
