This is a wonderful and rare to find Antique Silver and Niello Checkerboard Match / Vesta Case, with a match striker to the base, made c1890. It bears some Silver marks but as they’re rubbed we’re unable to determine any information from them. It measures approximately 5cm by 2.5cm. Please note there are some reflections in the photos. Ornate Antique French Solid Sterling Silver / Niello Vesta Case / Match safe. A beautiful French solid silver vesta case. Of solid silver with all over niello work of particularly fine quality. Of elongated rounded rectangular form with sprung hinged domes lid, the base with straike plate. Hallmarked with Frnech silver hallmarks (Boar’s head) as well as Russian silver import mark for St Petersburg. A very fine match safe. In antique condition with expected wear. Minor dings, scratches and surface wear throughout. Some small dings towards base, see pic. Hallmarks are clear and legible. Weight: approx 30 g.
Hello dear customers, I’m happy to offer one antique circa late 19th century book shape figurative vesta case match holder. Russian silver 84/875 purity mark and master mark AK. Truly rare antique vesta completely decorated with black niello motifs. Typically caucasian silver work with traditional geometric and floral motifs niello. Hinged snap lid and iron ribbed striker applied on side. Marked on the lid inside and on the bottom. The vesta is excellent preserved with insignificant surface markings of time. The lid open/close fit excellent. Found at an estate sale in Paris not sure for its age or history other than it came from an estate of a world traveler and antiques collector. X 30mm x 10mm. For your consideration is a rare and important antique Imperial Russian Chased 84 Niello Silver Snuff Pill Vesta Box Kovsh Case in fine original condition. Weight is approximately 31.40 grams. Measures approximately 48mm x 39mm x 22mm. Fully hallmarked for Russian Imperial 84 Silver kokoshnik and maker’s/ workmaster/ silversmith initials/ marks. Beautiful niello black and silver design with Versace border / rim. Hinge is loose; however, box closes tightly. With the exception of a loose hinge, this snuff box is in excellent condition.
